Serving Australian families since 1987

Every child deserves the chance to hear, learn and belong

We provide financial assistance to families of hearing-impaired children so they can access specialist education — and we fund research and prevention programs working towards a future with less childhood hearing loss.

Who We Are

A quiet, determined charity with one clear purpose

The Hearing Research & Support Foundation Inc. is a small, registered Australian charity established on 15 June 1987. For nearly four decades we have used the income from our carefully stewarded investments to do two things exceptionally well:

  • Help families of hearing-impaired children afford the specialist schooling their children need to thrive
  • Support organisations and research working to prevent hearing impairment in children

We are registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and report annually, so our supporters always know their generosity is governed with care.

What We Do

Practical help today. Prevention for tomorrow.

Our programs are deliberately focused, so every dollar works harder for hearing-impaired children and their families.

Family Financial Assistance

We ease the cost of specialist education for families of hearing-impaired children, so no child misses out on the learning environment they need because of their family's circumstances.

“When a hearing-impaired child gets the right education at the right time, their whole life changes course. Our job is to make sure the cost of that education never stands in the way.”

Our Direction

Mission & Vision

Our Mission

To remove the financial barriers that stand between hearing-impaired children and the specialist education they need, and to fund research and prevention initiatives that reduce childhood hearing impairment — pursuing every grant, partnership and opportunity that advances these goals.

Our Vision

An Australia where no child's hearing loss limits their education, opportunity or belonging — and where research has made preventable childhood hearing impairment a thing of the past.

Growing Our Reach

Exploring every grant and deal for the children we serve

As a small charity, we know that every additional dollar and every new supporter matters. That is why our Board actively explores all grants, deals and partnerships available to our beneficiaries — and why we are applying for digital grants to build our social media presence, produce informational videos and infographics, and establish an official online presence.

A stronger digital footprint means more awareness of childhood hearing impairment, more donations reaching families, and more opportunities for the research we help fund.
