Income from the Foundation's investments is applied directly to two streams of work, delivered through our Hearing Research & Support Service program.
Specialist schools and programs for deaf and hard-of-hearing children provide the intensive language, communication and learning support these children need — but attendance can carry costs many families simply cannot meet alone. We provide financial assistance to families of hearing-impaired children so their children can attend the specialist schools that will change their lives.
The best outcome of all is a child who never loses their hearing. We provide assistance to organisations working to prevent hearing impairment in children — from research into causes and early detection through to programs that protect children's hearing health.
Childhood hearing impairment affects far more than hearing. Without the right support at the right time, it can hold back language development, learning, confidence and friendships — consequences that can follow a child for life.
That is the logic behind everything we do: help the children who need support today, while funding the work that means fewer children will need it tomorrow.
